TuffSkin Surface Protection solves the etching and staining challenges for marble, onyx, quartzite, travertine, and more in the stone industry. Use the stone you want- TuffSkin provides the protection you need.

TuffSkin - Seal and Protect Your Stone

TuffSkin is an advanced surface protection film designed specifically to safeguard natural stone surfaces such as marble, onyx, quartzite, travertine and other porous stones from the everyday wear that can compromise their beauty and structural integrity. Unlike traditional sealers that merely penetrate the stone and wear off over time, TuffSkin forms a physical laminate barrier that sits on top of the surface, blocking liquids, acids and corrosive substances from ever reaching the stone itself.

At its core, TuffSkin is made from a high-tech, optically clear polyester film with a hardcoat surface and a specially formulated “Stone Release” adhesive. This construction makes it liquid impermeable yet gas permeable, allowing the stone to breathe naturally while preventing oils, water, acids and other staining agents from causing permanent damage. It’s available in both high gloss and satin finishes, so the protected surface maintains the natural look and feel of the stone.

One of TuffSkin’s most compelling benefits is its ability to stop etching and staining completely—something that liquid sealers can’t reliably do. This means that everyday spills from wine, citrus, coffee, oils, cosmetics, and other acidic or alkaline substances won’t leave lasting marks on your stone countertops, vanities, bar tops or tables. Built-in UV inhibitors help prevent yellowing and maintain clarity, and the film itself is heat resistant, standing up to temperatures commonly found in kitchen environments without compromising performance.

The product is also engineered for practicality: while extremely durable and resistant to wear and tear, it is replaceable without damaging the stone underneath. If the film becomes scratched or worn over time, it can be professionally removed and a new protective layer installed, offering a long-term maintenance solution that helps extend the life and look of high-end stone surfaces.

Overall, TuffSkin allows you to enjoy the aesthetic and luxury of natural stone in high-use spaces—such as kitchens, bathrooms, restaurants, hotels and hospitality environments—without sacrificing performance or requiring constant re-sealing and restoration.

Data Sheets

Always use cutting boards on marble bench tops to prevent acid burns from acid based products such as lemons, limes, tomato sauces, coca cola and champagne. Ring marks and etching marks are inevitable as marble is sensitive to many materials used in the kitchen on a daily basis. One way of minimising the effect if acid damage is to have a honed finish. Less light reflection may disguise the etching. Rockstar recommends bench tops to be restored annually.

No. Vinegar is an acid based product and will burn or etch a polished stone surface.

All situations are different based on use and cleaning regime employed. A rough guide: Surface Sealers should be reapplied every 3-6 months in a high traffic commercial situation and approximately every 12 months in an average domestic situation.
