Project Overview

Problem: This client had a large white laminated glass skylight in the kitchen and living areas that brought in too much heat and made it difficult to use the areas. West facing large sliding glass doors also caused the home to heat up beyond a comfortable level.

Solution: The existing glass was white translucent laminated glass, which meant a thermal stress risk, so we chose 3M Dusted Crystal which has a very low solar heat absorption with a 69% heat rejection. Solar Gard Sterling 60 Solar Control Window film was also installed on the large sliding doors and Solar Gard Quantum 20 Solar Control Window Film to the upstairs bedroom/study.

Client Feedback: “The owner was very happy and now is able to use the kitchen at all times of the day with minimal change to the appearance.”
